Project Title: "National Carbonaceous Aerosol Programme (NCAP): Carbonaceous Aerosol"issions Source Apportionment and Climate Effects"
Qualification Essential: 1. PhD degree in climate, atmospheric science, or related field with strong publication record.
2. 2 years experience in designing and performing experiments with Genaral Circulation Models.
3.Demonstrated proficiency in climate model simulations and analysis using tools among those listed below
4.Knowledge of physical mechanisms driving climate change in South Asia.
Desirable: Specific proficiency in scientific programming languages such as Fortran, Matlab, R and Python; experience in high performance computing; porting and tunning the models on various plotfoms; shell scripting and meteorological data analysis tools (GrADS, FERRET, NCL, Python, NCO, CDO); handling large volumes of data (formats including like NetCDF, HDF, GRIB, ASCII)

Job Profile: The successful candidate will be part of the NCAP-COALESCE group of researchers, at IITB. The specific position will involve using ECHAM6-HAM2 simulations and statistical approaches to detect aerosol influence on radiative forcing and rainfall over India, and to understand changes in cloud properties and rainfall mean and extreme magnitudes. Strong scientific publication outcome is expected.
