Project Title  :  “In-depth Assessment and Mapping of Mangrove Habitats in Northern Kerala – A GIS based Vulnerability Assessment for Conservation”

Qualification  :  M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Forest Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Taxonomy. M.Sc. Degree should be in first class with an aggregate minimum of 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.85 on a 10 scale or equivalent.

Desirable :  Knowledge of remote sensing and GIS applications, statistical/ mathematical data processing, computer applications, mangrove ecosystem

Fellowship :  JRFs will be paid a consolidated amount of Rs. 22000/- per month as fellowship

Qualification  :  a) B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Forest Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Geology, Geography, Taxonomy. B.Sc. Degree should be in first class with an aggregate minimum of 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.85 on a 10 scale or equivalent. Minimum 3 years experience is necessary in the field of ecology and environmental studies. (OR) b) M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Forest Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Geology, Geography, Taxonomy. M.Sc. Degree should be in first class with an aggregate minimum of 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.85 on a 10 scale or equivalent.

Fellowship :  TFAs will be paid a consolidated amount of Rs. 18000/- per month as fellowship.

Age Limit :  The age limit for JRF and Technical Field Assistants (TFA) is 28 years on the date of interview but relaxable for 5 years in the case of SC/ST candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates.

About Department of Environment and Climate Change - Govt. of Kerala

A new department by name ‘Environment Department’ has been formed by delinking the subject Environment from then existed Science, Technology & Environment Department as per G.O.(Ms.) No.10/2006/GAD dated 6.1.2006. Later it was felt that the Environment Department is not having a Directorate or Head of the Department to support it in formulating schemes, plans, programmes and their execution. Several environment related projects, schemes already got sanctioned from the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India were at various stages of execution by different departments of Government and organizations.
