ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian Nationals for the post of Research Associate – Agrometeorology/ Agronomy position of Innovation Systems for the Drylands program to be based at ICRISAT – Patancheru, India.
Essential criteria: PhD in Agrometeorology/ Agronomy, crop science or related discipline. Good understanding of climate information in general and its role in planning and managing agricultural systems. Analytical skills to conduct QA/QC tests and quantify trends in variability using long-term climate data. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement field experiments. Good publication record, as evidenced by research papers in refereed journals. Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams involving range of stakeholders. Ability and willingness to participate in field work and travel extensively in India.Good written and oral communications skills in English.
Desirable Criteria: Agronomic knowledge of major dryland crops and cropping systems in India. Good understanding of climate and weather forecasts and weather based agro-advisory services. Working knowledge of farming system models such as APSIM or DSSAT.
General: This is a Consolidated (CON) position for three years renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institute’s continuing need for the position.
